September, 9 — Nizhny Novgorod, Russia — MERA became a speaker and a sponsor of the first local TEDx conference uniquely titled TEDxYouth@KulibinPark. The event closely followed the format and design of the TED Talk videos: the stage and setup decorated in red and white, a screen presentation behind the speaker, a large 3D TEDx logo on the stage, warm lighting in the background. Speaker communicated their ideas in the English language and each presentation was limited to 18 minutes.
TEDx gathered 150+ people, including 9 extraordinary speakers ready to share their inspiring and innovative ideas. All the performers were talking about changes that are happening or are yet to happen in their personal or professional life. The event presented multiple issues and diversity of topics falling within the scope of the conference theme: self-development, digital footprints and big data, leadership in business, navigation, communication, art, literature, medicine, life purpose and many others.
Maxim Leykin, Project Manager at MERA, participated in the event as a speaker. He addressed the issue of the application of new technologies in our everyday lives. During his presentation, Maxim demonstrated a number of different use cases for Bluetooth beacons that can change our life for the better. In between the live speakers’ presentations, the audience watched TED Talk videos and networked with other guests in a Telegram chat.
The best TEDx Talks will be uploaded to the TED official website for the whole world to see.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
