MERA introduced a new approach for IMS and LTE deployments at the international conference organized by RANS.
MERA, an Eastern Europe's leader in software R&D services for Telecom, Datacom and Media, participated in the 11-th international conference "Contemporary conditions and perspectives for IP-communications and IP-services in Russia" organized by Russian Association of Networks and Services (RANS). The company introduced a new approach for IMS and LTE technologies deployment to network operators. The approach considers practical use of Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) software prototypes as described in an article "MERA and Fraunhofer FOKUS expand the Open Evolved Packet Core". These prototypes allow to perform practical research and testing of All-IP telecom solutions including LTE solutions.
MERA considers IMS and LTE to be company’s strategic technological domains. The company invested into an All-IP laboratory for prototyping and testing of innovative technologies. This laboratory is equipped with all facilities for development of IMS services, corresponding to the latest 3GPP specifications. In June, 2010 the laboratory’s functionality was presented to Russian telecom operators. Following its IMS and LTE strategy MERA became a full member of the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) in March, 2010.
